Slash [Poster]

One might question the need to design the official image for an event whose very existence and structure were, from its inception until the eve of its opening, constantly challenged and reshaped by unpredictable health and governmental decisions. Tired of these back-and-forths, the communication for Slash—an exhibition initially intended to highlight the works of first-year students at Énsad Nancy, who extended and reactivated Marianne Mispelaëre’s piece No Man’s Land through a sensitive approach—was reduced to a single medium. A simple poster, printed on standard-weight paper in a cost-effective half-Decaux format, conveyed only the essential information, embodying a form of urgent, minimal, and reassuring graphic design. A large scratch-off black ink layer was overlaid, covering or censoring the event, the image, and its invitation—reflecting the uncertainty and evolving nature of the exhibition.
